Growing up, Linda "Sissy" Perez loved to watch her grandmother cook. One of her favorite dishes was tacos, beans and rice. Once she got old enough to explore her Roseland community on Chicago's south side, she got acquainted with the small, family owned restaurants and dream of one day owning her own restaurant.
I grew up in Chicago's Roseland neghborhood with a Black father and Latino mother which allowed me to enjoy both soul food and Mexican/Latino food. I started cooking at the age of 12 learning from my grandmother and aunts how to make authentic Mexican styled street tacos. After years of cooking for family and friends and dining at various restaurants across the United States, I decided to launch my dream--Sissy's Taco Bar.
